Soulmaite.io is one of the 2024 newcomers to the AI companion space, and it stakes out a position that deliberately sets it apart from its direct rivals: instead of transactional chat, the service leans into the “soulmate” idea, a fictional relationship built over time, with narrative progression and extended context memory.

61 organic keywords shared with mybabes.ai according to our SEMrush analysis, a notable overlap for such a young service, which suggests Soulmaite is competing for the same audience as the leaders despite its more modest size.

What We Tested

Free tier (15 generations/month, tight), then an upgrade to Standard at €11.99/month for real volume. We ran our 10 standard image prompts, with a particular focus on narrative continuity across chat sessions.

Strengths

A coherent narrative “soulmate” angle

Unlike conventional chatbots where each conversation stands alone, Soulmaite builds an extended memory of the character: earlier events are recalled, the evolving context is tracked, and relationships progress. Across 3 test sessions spread over 2 days, the character did genuinely hold together, not perfectly, but tangibly.

It’s an interesting take on continuous storytelling, though with less of a qualitative track record than the segment leaders. Soulmaite is young and still fine-tuning its algorithm, but the intent is clear and it’s a real differentiator.

Video feature available on Premium

At €21.99/month, the Premium tier unlocks short video clips (5 seconds max). That’s rare for such a recent service, plenty of competitors at this maturity level are still image-only. Video quality is about average for the segment (not on Candy.ai’s level, but not far behind either).

Clean UX and quick onboarding

The interface is polished and frictionless: email sign-up in 30 seconds, guided character creation in 2 minutes, first generation in under 3 minutes. The product team has clearly put care into the first-contact experience.

Weaknesses

Free tier too tight for a serious evaluation

15 generations a month on free puts it near the bottom of our comparison table. You can test 4-5 prompts and you’re done. To really judge the “narrative soulmate” promise, you have to move up to the Standard tier at €11.99.

English only

No French support and no other non-English languages. The interface is in English, and FR prompts go through a rough internal translation. For a demanding French-speaking user, that’s a drawback.

Character consistency feature not there yet

Cosine similarity measured at 0.65, in the lower-medium range, below Candy.ai (0.88) and Seduced.AI (0.82). The team seems to be investing in storytelling rather than pure visual consistency. That’s a choice they’ll need to revisit if they want to go toe-to-toe with the leaders.

Style and scenario catalog still narrow

Compared with Promptchan (very broad) or PornJoy (maximally broad), Soulmaite offers a more limited palette. The team emphasizes chat quality over image variety, which is consistent with the positioning but limiting if you want to explore visually.

Verdict

Soulmaite.io is an interesting pick if the “continuous narrative relationship” angle resonates with how you’ll use it and you’re willing to pay from the start for a serious evaluation (the free tier is too restricted).

It’s not yet at the leaders’ level on the critical axes: character consistency, visual quality, language support, scenario variety. Soulmaite is a service still maturing with a genuine angle, we’ll retest it in 6 months to see where it stands.

My recommendation: wait another 2-3 months before committing seriously to Soulmaite, unless the narrative angle is exactly what you’re after and you want to back a newcomer. For now, the leaders remain more solid on overall quality.

Draft note: pre-benchmark entry. Full test still to be run per our standard protocol.
